What is archiving?

Traditionally, archiving meant saving the original for reference or future viewers.

For most of us, printed pictures were saved in photo albums or in a box under the bed. $"my$
These collections could look as well organized as my workshop — and probably be about as accessible.

With Digital Media, for most, that means taking a picture with your phone.
      Quick.
               Convenient.
Easy to show picts to anyone that seems interested.

So, what’s wrong with that system?
Absolutely nothing.
Until taking a selfie while you’re whitewater rafting and you drop your phone overboard.
Major OOOPS!
You walk away from your parked car not realizing you phone is laying on the ground in the slush and salt water.
Or until the house happens to be destroyed; fire, tornado, flood.

I’ve seen them all.
So, what can you do? go to archiving/archiving-part-2-digital/
